Shark Attacks Mick Fanning at J-Bay Open

CNN reports that professional surfer Mick Fanning escaped a shark attack in the opening minutes of the J-Bay Open.

The J-Bay Open is the sixth stop on the 2015 Samsung Galaxy World Surf League Tour.  Organizers cancelled the remainder of the championship.

Mick Fanning's mother, Elizabeth Osborne was watching her son live when the attack occurred.  She said she saw the event unfold and walked towards the television as if to "pull him out" and rescue him.

Fanning has won three surfing titles.  He was waiting for his first wave when suddenly a find surfaced behind him! Mick Fanning punched and kicked yet the shark was still able to knock him off his board.

"Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival. -Winston Churchill
