Inspirational basketball player Lauren Hill dies at 19; 3 Victory Lessons From Lauren Hill

Lauren Hill was the 19 year old college freshman basketball player who played at Mount St. Josephs.   She committed to play for 'The Mount' her senior year of high school.  A few weeks later her doctor informed her that she only had two years to live.

ONE
Inspiration
Lauren Hill inspired people around the world by fighting an inoperable brain tumor.  Hill's battle ended April 10 at age 19, yet she saw the end of her life as the beginning of something bigger.  She dedicated her life to live, to speak, to play, for all the children with cancer who cannot.  Pediatric cancer is under-funded and Hill was able to raise $1.5M for cancer research.  You can donate to her tribute fund at The Cure Starts Now.

Hill continued to play while she was dying.  The truth is, we are all doing the same: Everyday we live we are one day closer to our death therefore we cannot let our lives pass us by!  Hill has set the bar high: Her courage and bravery makes everyone feel like they are capable.  Use Hill's story to motivate yourself to be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody.

TWO
Vision
Hill dreamed of stepping out on the college court, looking down at her shoes, and feeling the vibration of the crowd.  She wanted to play in one basketball game and to raise awareness about diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomsa (DIPG).  DIPG is a rare pediatric brain cancer that typically affects children between the ages of 5 and 7.  Get Well Gabby explains DIPG in detail.  Mount St. Josephs basketball season would usually start at the end of November.  Due to Hill's devastating prognosis, the NCAA approved a waiver for Mount St. Josephs to start its season two weeks earlier.  In November 2014, Lauren Hill achieved her dream to play college basketball; she scored the first points of Mount St. Joseph's 2014-15 season.

Oprah Winfrey states, "Create the highest vision possible for your life because you become what you believe." Many people lack the courage to dream when they are facing difficulties in their lives.  Hill showed how strong she was by fighting towards her goal despite her condition.  She believed her dream into existence.  Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible to others!

THREE
Cherish the Moment!
Hill states that she wanted to "keep living and keep cherishing the moment." The life that we have left is a gift that must be cherished.  Do what matters before you run out of time! Embrace every possibility that presents itself.  Your destiny lies in what you have been avoiding.  The challenge that you do not bother considering twice because you are overwhelmed by the though of failure.

Cherish every person in your life.  Similar to opportunities, you never know when it will be the last time you see someone.  Lauren Hill successfully raised awareness about many cancer patients who continue to suffer due to the lack of funding.  Victory is donating to the less fortunate.  Cherish the moment by donating to an important cause.  KeepInspiring.me explains that everything holding you to a life you don't want to live is a prison created by your own mind.
